The story

“Having always had a passion for working with leather. Part of the attraction is that the pieces I make will last a lifetime.

Materials are sourced from the UK including oak bark tanned leather from Colyton in Devon (the last remaining tannery in Europe that is using this traditional technique), buckles cast in foundries from the historic shoemaking city of Northampton, and beeswax from St Just in Cornwall.

I draw many of my themes and inspiration from nature. When first experimenting with leather work and belt making I often had the company of a friendly blackbird who would sit by me in the garden in the springtime – which is where this name comes from.”
